It’s difficult to provide definitive answers to your questions, because of the uncertainty involved. First, while it is widely assumed Umenyiora will seek to sign elsewhere, he will be a free agent who could return to the Giants. Who knows what the market will be for him? If he doesn’t return, Kiwanuka could be a candidate to move back to defensive end. The Giants would have to decide if he’s more valuable at end or linebacker. It’s very likely he would continue to get snaps both on the line and at linebacker, as he has the last couple of years. Most of Kiwanuka’s playing time at the end of the 2012 season was up front. Rivers is another free agent, which means his return is not guaranteed. Should he come back and Kiwanuka becomes a fulltime end, Rivers would probably be a strongside linebacker candidate - if the Giants acquire one in free agency or the draft.

Fred Dryer. The defensive end was the Giants’ first-round draft choice in 1969. He played three seasons for the Giants (1969-71) and 10 for the Los Angeles Rams (1972-81). Dryer later had a successful acting career, notably as the star of Hunter, a crime-drama television series.
