Make the Case: OT Martin vs. OT Lewan

Posted May 5, 2014

Media experts give their take on who the Giants should draft with the 12th pick.

“We have to draft this player because he can do A,B, C.” “No, we should select that player because he can do X, Y, Z.”

These are the debates that will continue to be waged in front offices across the NFL for the next three days, up until commissioner Roger Goodell steps in front of the podium at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday night.

In our “Make the Case” web series, we look at the selections provided by two NFL draft experts and their reasons why. Then we ask you, the fans, to weigh in on which player you would like the Giants to select if available at No. 12.

Today’s debate is at offensive tackle. NFL Media analyst and former Washington Redskins and Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly projects Notre Dame’s Zack Martin to go to the Giants, while NFL.com’s Mike Huguenin has them selecting Taylor Lewan out of Michigan.

The Giants need to get a tackle. Martin is an immediate upgrade on the left side.

The Giants' O-line too often resembled a subway turnstile in 2013, and Lewan should help in that regard.

So, Giants fans, if both players are available, who would you want the Giants to select? Comment below!
