Beckum, a fourth-year pro, tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in the Giants’ victory over New England in Super Bowl XLVI. He subsequently underwent surgery and began the rehabilitation process. Beckum was placed on the reserve/PUP list at the beginning of training camp. He practiced with the team for the first time on Oct. 24, beginning a three-week period in which the Giants had to activate him, release him or keep him on the PUP list for the remainder of the season.
A third-round draft choice in 2009, Beckum has played in 44 regular-season games with four starts. He has 26 receptions for 264 yards and three touchdowns, including a 67-yarder last year against Green Bay.

Petrus, a third-year pro, played in three games this season, primarily on special teams. He was inactive for two games.
This is the second time Petrus has been waived in 2012. He was let go on Sept. 1, when the Giants claimed offensive lineman D.J. Jones off waivers from Philadelphia. When Jones failed his physical, Petrus was re-signed the next day.
